Soya Chunks Thoran/ Stir Fry



1.Soya Chunks-3/4cup
2.Onion-2
   Green Chilly-2
   Thenga kothu(coconut pieces)-1/4cup
3.Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
   Chilly powder-1/2tsp
   Coriander powder-1tsp
   Garam masala powder-1/2tsp
   Salt
4.Shredded Coconut-3/4cup
5.Coconut oil-1tbs
   Mustard seeds-1tsp
   Dry red chilly-2
   Curry leaves-2springs



  • Boil 2cups water and 1tbsp milk in a pan,add soya chunks.cover and keep it aside for 15 minutes.Press and squeeze out excess water.Cut them into 4 pieces.
  • Mix soya chunks with onion, green chilly, turmeric powder, chilly powder ,coriander powder,garam masala and salt.
  • Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds.Fry dry red chilly and curry leaves.Add soya chunks and cook covered on low flame for 5 minutes.Then open it and add shredded coconut.Simmer it until it is dry and separated from another.
  • Serve hot with rice
